About

ALIFE is a place to explore new theories of life and evolution. It is also about exploring new philosophies and methodologies in the age of superintelligent AI. ALIFE’s long-standing theme is Open-Ended Evolution (OEE), the mechanism by which life evolves continuously and creatively. How do humans come up with new ideas? Why do new technologies continue to be created? OEE can have a structure similar to human imagination and creativity. Therefore, we would like to explore something common to both to find new tips for your further challenges. At TOKYO ALIFE 2020, we will see new advances in ALIFE supported by novel ideas and technologies in VR, AR, and generative art.

On Day1, the theme is divided into four topics: 1) From AI to ALIFE, 2) Autonomy and Immortality, 3) Open-Ended Evolution, 4) Augmented Evolution. The last session, 5) ALIFE in Society, is a dialogue on the idea of ALIFE expanded in the society.

On Day2, we prepared the following four categories: 1) Chemistry, 2) Learning, 3) Evolution, 4)Agency. By classifying ALIFE issues into those categories, we will explain in more detail the current ALIFE concept, what we need to solve, and methodology.

Day1 is for the general audience, and Day2 is for the academic communities.
